IPL 2020 DC vs CSK: Prithvi Shaw explains the reason for his excellent batting

Dubai: In the Delhi Capitals’ win over Chennai Super Kings, the young opener Prithvi Shaw said that his plan was to play field shots to avoid ‘stupid mistakes’. He could not impress in the opening match against Kings XI Punjab and was dismissed after scoring 5 runs. But this 20-year-old player made up for it by scoring 64 runs off 43 balls on Friday and laid the foundation for the team’s 44-run win.

‘Man of the match’ Prithvi told captain Shreyas Iyer in a video posted on the Indian Premier League (IPL) website, ‘My plan was to play my natural game but wanted to play field shot, something stupid in the last match. Mistakes had happened which were not right for me or the team.

Prithvi Shaw shared a 94-run partnership for the first wicket with Shikhar Dhawan, which led Delhi Capitals to 175 for 3 wickets. Both of them started off slow and collected just 36 runs in the first 6 overs but soon caught the rhythm.

He said, ‘Chennai Super Kings have some great fast bowlers, yet I was able to get some gaps. As spinners came, me and Shikhar Dhawan knew that we can speed up our innings after powerplay.
