Dubai: Legendary cricketer KL Rahul (KL Rahul) has achieved a new position in the match against Delhi Capitals. He has become the 5th such player in the history of IPL, who besides captaining, has also started wicketkeeping and innings. Rahul is captaining Kings XI Punjab in the IPL 2020 released in the UAE. Apart from captaincy, he also went on to start wicketkeeping and innings against Delhi Capitals in their first match of the season. This was the first match of Rahul as captain.

Prior to Rahul, Australia Adam Gilchrist, New Zealand’s Brandon McCullum, Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and India’s Parthiv Patel have started wicketkeeping and innings apart from captaining in IPL history. Although under the leadership of KL Rahul, the Punjab team lost to the Delhi Capitals, but this special record was forever recorded in Rahul’s career.
Significantly, the second match of IPL 2020 was played between Delhi Capitals vs Kings XI Punjab (DC vs KXIP) at the International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. After the tie, the Delhi team has defeated Punjab by 2 wickets in the super over. Punjab scored just 2 runs during the super over. Kagiso Rabada of Delhi took 2 wickets in 3 balls in the super over, due to which Delhi Capitals got a modest target of 3 runs and the Punjab team has failed to win.
