new Delhi: The second match of the Indian Premier League 2020 (IPL 2020) is to be played on the ground of Dubai between the Kings Ilav Punjab and Delhi Capitals (KXIP VS DC) on 20 September. Against Kings XI Punjab, the Delhi team will take the field in the presence of experienced spinners like Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra and Akshar Patel. In such a situation, Delhi’s pan will be heavy. This will be the first match of the two teams in this season where a great rivalry can also be seen between their captains. Kings XI captain Lokesh Rahul (KL Rahul) and Delhi Capitals’ Shreyas Iyer are being seen as future Indian captains. It is known that both these teams have failed to name the IPL title even once.
Delhi has better spinners than Punjab
The coaches of both the teams have been world class players and in such a situation it will be interesting to see their strategy. If Kings XI Punjab players want to take inspiration from their coach Anil Kumble, then the players of Delhi Capitals will leave no stone unturned to field the plans of Ricky Ponting. There is no dearth of players who have hit big shots in both teams, but on the slow pitches of UAE, the trio of Ashwin, Amit Mishra and Akshar may be overshadowed by the Punjab team. This match will be played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. On the batting front, Delhi Capitals have a good mix of Indian and international players. Which includes Prithvi Shaw, Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan and Shimron Hetmyer of West Indies. In this scenario, Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane (strike rate of less than 120) is unlikely to get a chance in the team. Let us know that the team bought them from Rajthan Royals.
There is more than one team in both the teams
Kings XI have big shots players like Chris Gayle, Glenn Maxwell and Rahul himself. Maxwell’s confidence in winning the team by playing 108 runs in the third ODI against England will be very high. He performed brilliantly in 2014 when some matches of this tournament were played in the UAE. Maxwell scored 552 runs in 16 matches that season. Kingl XI has a dangerous opening pair in the form of Gayle and Rahul, followed by Mayank Agarwal.
The Delhi Capitals (DC) team along with Kagiso Rabada may include Daniel Sams, the highest wicket-taker in the Big Bash League, in the final 11, which could lead to Ishant Sharma’s exit. Mohammed Shami will lead the fast bowling attack for Kings XI Punjab while the spin department will be responsible for Mujib Zadran of Afghanistan. Ashwin would like to pair up with Mishra, leaving behind the ‘mocking’ controversy in the previous season. Amit Mishra has 157 wickets in the IPL and is second in the list of most wicket-takers. Although the Punjab team has won four matches in the last five matches, the Delhi team was heavy in the last match between the two teams.
