Dubai: After losing their first match against Delhi Capitals in a super over, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will take on RCB in their second match of IPL 2020 against RCB at the Dubai International Stadium here on Thursday. Against Delhi Capitals, Punjab had chased down the target of 158 runs on Mayank Agarwal’s innings of 89 from 60 balls. The rest of Punjab’s batsmen could not leave their impact, but Mayank, while holding one end, had given Punjab access to the target on his own.

It seemed that the Punjab team captained by KL Rahul would win the match. When Punjab needed 1 run off 3 balls, then Punjab lost 2 wickets on the last 2 balls and the match went into a super over. Kagiso Rabada won the Delhi Capitals in the Super Over. Punjab will try to reduce the over-reliance on opener KL Rahul and Mayank and expect Karun Nair, Glenn Maxwell and Nicholas Puran to score runs in the middle order.
In the first match, ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle did not get a place in Planning XI. In this match, the team management can adopt a strategy to strengthen the middle order by bringing him to number three. In bowling, Mohammed Shami will once again try to continue the same form he showed in the first match. Shami took 3 wickets for 15 runs in the first match.
On the other hand, RCB, captained by Kohli, will be confident after defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first match. RCB also has its own problems, especially in fast bowling. South Africa’s Dale Steyn had taken the wicket but this 37-year-old player was not even close to his best performance. Umesh Yadav was disappointed by giving 48 runs and could not even take wickets.
Navdeep Saini and Shivam Dubey also did nothing special. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal had used the conditions very well and proved to be a game-changer in the match with 3 wickets. So far away from the trophy, RCB will be hoping for another great opening partnership from Devdutt Paddikkal and Aaron Finch in batting. Padikkal impressed in the first match itself and scored 56 runs from 42 balls. In the middle order, the team has captain Kohli and AB de Villiers. In such a situation, another good match can be expected.
