Mumbai: Star India, the official broadcaster of IPL 2020, has claimed that TV viewership has increased by 23 per cent and the top T20 tournament on TV received an average of 3.15 million 70 thousand impressions.

The figures were taken from the Broadcast Audience Richters Council (BARC) India and broadcasting in 5 regional languages Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada helped to increase viewership. According to the channel, during the recently ended season, the number of female viewers increased by 24 percent while the number of children increased by 20 percent.

Significantly, this year the IPL was played in three UAE grounds, Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Dubai International Stadium and Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, in view of the threat of corona virus epidemic.
