Dubai: Left-handed batsman Devdutt Padikkal, who played a key role in the Royal Challengers Bangalore win against Sunrisers Hyderabad, has said that he has learned a lot from Virat Kohli. RCB, batting first in their first match of IPL, scored 163 runs losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. He defended this goal well and made Hyderabad the match by 10 runs by covering Hyderabad for 153 runs. Padiqkal made his IPL debut with this match and scored 56 runs off 42 balls in the first match.

In a video released on the IPL website, Padikal while talking to Chahal said, ‘I was very nervous when I came to know that I was about to debut. The day I got the news, I was walking in my room thinking that I will play against Hyderabad. When I came to bat, I froze. I felt good when I played my opening balls.

He said, ‘We have been training since last month. Virat Bhaiya talked to me and I learned a lot from him. When I am with him, I keep asking him questions. Padikkal shared a 90-run partnership for the first wicket with Aaron Finch of Australia. On playing with Finch, Padikkal said, ‘It was fantastic to play with Finch. He understood that I am scoring fast. So they gave me a strike and showed confidence in me. Bangalore’s next match is against Kings XI Punjab on 24 September.
