Abu Dhabi: The dismissal of Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Friday in IPL 2020 Eliminator match has become a cause for controversy. Commentators and cricket pundits are angry with this decision.

Actually Mohammed Siraj’s ball went to the gloves of wicketkeeper AB de Villiers while dodging Warner. Meanwhile, the ball seemed to have touched something, either the gloves or the trousers, but it was not clear. On-field umpire S Ravi gave not out to Warner while third umpire Virender Sharma on review gave Warner out after several replays.

The commentator Pommy Mbangwa immediately criticized the decision and said he should have been given not out. Mabangwa said, ‘Since the evidence was not strong and the on-field umpire had not given it out, it should not have been given out.’ Soon after his statement, he said that it was a decision that could go either way.

Former New Zealand player Scott Styris said, ‘Incredible decision of third umpire. David Warner has every reason to be angry. The real decision was not out. There was no strong evidence to change this decision. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, who was commentating with Mabangwa, said that the umpire’s decision should be respected.
