New Delhi: Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting is confident that captaining the team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season, wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant will flourish in the game and will make a double blast. Team India’s young wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been named as captain by the IPL team Delhi Capitals.
Rishabh Pant gets captaincy
Regular captain of Delhi Capitals, Shreyar Iyer has been ruled out of IPL 2021, after which Rishabh Pant has got this big responsibility. Iyer was injured during the ODI series against England. Ponting tweeted, ‘It is unfortunate that Shreyas Iyer will not be able to play in the tournament, but I am anxious to see how Rishabh Pant takes advantage of it.’
This is a great opportunity for Pant
Ponting said, “He deserved it because of his recent performance and he is full of confidence.” I am confident that the captaincy will make him a better player. Ponting said, “This is a great opportunity for the young Pant, who has recently done well against Australia and England.” There is no doubt that this will boost morale while captaining him.
Rishabh Pant is in form
The coaching group is keen to work with them and we are not able to wait for the season to start. Pant scored 97 and an unbeaten 89 in the third and fourth Test matches against Australia and scored a century in the fourth Test against England. In the third and final ODI on Sunday, Rishabh Pant scored 78 runs from 62 balls.
