IPL 2021: Members of Mumbai Indians leave for UAE, this team will have their first match


Mumbai: The defending champions Mumbai Indians have left for the UAE capital Abu Dhabi for the second phase of IPL 2021. The franchise on Friday shared photos and videos via its Twitter handle, which shows talent scout R Vinay Kumar in flight with the caption as ‘Abu Dhabi bound’.

UAE countdown begins

Mumbai Indians also posted a video of off-spinner Jayant Yadav in full travel gear, with the caption, ‘Off we go! The countdown has started. Earlier, the BCCI had announced that the remaining part of IPL 2021, which was halted in May due to the second wave of corona virus in India, will be held in the UAE from September 19.

Practice in Abu Dhabi

The Indian members of the Mumbai Indians team are among the first players to leave for the UAE on Friday. After the quarantine, the team will start its pre-season camp in Abu Dhabi. For the last two weeks, the franchise had organized a camp for the domestic players at the Jio Stadium inside the Reliance Corporate Park in Ghansoli.

First match against CSK
After going through a necessary quarantine period, the players started their training with the facilities and setup in Mumbai keeping in mind the monsoon season. Mumbai will resume its campaign on 19 September in a blockbuster match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Dubai. 5-time champion Mumbai is currently at number four in Point Tabv.
