IPL Spot Fixing: This cricketer, who was banned for Lifetime with Sreesanth, made an important request to BCCI


Mumbai: Mumbai’s left-arm spinner Ankeet Chavan has requested the BCCI to issue a letter to remove the ban imposed on him, only after which he will be able to return to competitive cricket.

Ban was imposed in the year 2013

The BCCI imposed lifetime bans on Ankeet Chavan, S Sreesanth and Ajit Chandila in the year 2018. These three players were punished after being accused of being involved in IPL spot-fixing.

In the year 2020, BCCI Ombudsman Justice (Retd) DK Jain reduced the life-time ban of both S Sreesanth and Ajit Chandila to 7 years.

Ankit needs BCCI letter

The copy of the order regarding S Sreesanth had arrived before his ban ended in September 2020, but Ankeet Chavan had to wait for his order till May 3. But to return to cricket, he needs a confirmation letter from the BCCI which he has not received yet.

What did Ankit say?

Ankeet Chavan told PTI-language, ‘My ban was reduced by the Lokpal last year and 7 years of punishment also ended on September 2020. On May 3, I received a letter from the Ombudsman which has also been sent to BCCI. This was after the virtual hearing held on 19 April. ‘

Request to BCCI through MCA

Ankeet Chavan asked his Maharashtra Cricket Association to take up the matter with the BCCI as he has not received any response from the apex body since last month after the order of the Ombudsman.
