Dubai: In the fourth test played between Team India and England, India won by 157 runs. Indian fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Shardul Thakur have made huge gains in the ICC Test rankings.
Bumrah’s advantage in the rankings
Following his match-winning spell in the fourth Test against England at the Oval, he moved up a place to ninth in the ICC Test rankings for bowlers. Bumrah bowled Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow with his brilliant reverse swing spell to turn the match in India’s favor, helping the team take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
Shardul Thakur took a long jump
Among the batsmen, Shardul Thakur jumped 59 places with the help of two half-centuries to reach 79th position. At the same time, Thakur also managed to move up seven places to 49th in the bowlers’ list with the help of four wickets in the match.
Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins is at the top of the bowlers’ rankings. Indian spinner R Ashwin is in second place even though he has not been a part of the four Test matches against England so far.
Kohli lags far behind Rohit
There has been no change in the top 10 of the batsmen’s rankings, with England captain Joe Root retaining the first position. Rohit Sharma is in fifth and Virat Kohli is in sixth place. Opener Rohit played a match-winning knock of 127 runs in the second innings, due to which the difference in rating points between him and Kohli has now increased from seven to 30.
Ashwin has slipped a place to the fifth position in the all-rounder list, while Ravindra Jadeja has remained at the third spot. West Indies’ Jason Holder tops the all-rounder list.
