Lanka Premier League postponed till 21 November, know what is the reason

Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Wednesday postponed the first Lanka Premier League (LPL) to 21 November so that players participating in the tournament would have enough time to meet the Sri Lankan government’s quarantine rules. This T20 tournament was scheduled to begin on November 14 as per the predetermined schedule but now after the changes it will start from November 21. The draft of the players to be held on October 1 will also be on October 9.

LPL tournament director Revin Vikramaratne said, “The IPL will run till November 10, we thought that time should be given to the players playing in the IPL who want to play in the LPL.” The ongoing IPL final in UAE will be held on 10 November. The top players of Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies and Afghanistan are playing in this league.

This is the second time LPL’s program has been changed. Initially it was scheduled to be held from August 28 to September 20 but it was postponed due to Corona virus epidemic. The tournament is to be played at three international venues in Sri Lanka – Ranagiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, Pallekal International Cricket Stadium and Suriaweva Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium. In this 15-day tournament, 23 matches will be played between five teams. 5 teams are named after Colombo, Kandy, Gaul, Dambulla and Jaffna districts.
