Lasith Malinga said goodbye to franchise cricket, Mumbai Indians did not retain

Mumbai: Sri Lankan bowler Lasith Malinga, who played for Mumbai Indians in the IPL tournament, has decided to retire from franchise cricket. In early January 2021, this cricketer informed Mumbai Indians management about his decision. Malinga had told this franchisee that he would not be present for the retention.

Lasith Malinga said, ‘I thought after discussing with my family that this is the right time for every franchise to retire from cricket. The circumstances of the epidemic and the strict rules of travel are the reason why personal circumstances are preventing me from franchising cricket, so this is the right decision at this time.

Mumbai Indians owner Akash Ambani said in his statement, ‘The team management would have respected the decision of Lasith Malinga, so they are not part of the club’s 18-member retention squad announced on Wednesday. , Lasith Malinga has been an important member of Mumbai Indians for 12 years.

Akash Ambani further said, ‘I wanted him to be a part of our bowling attack for the next 5 years, he is the legend of the team. His contribution to the Mumbai Indians is incomparable. We will always remember calling his name in Wankhede, he will always be in the hearts of us and Mumbai fans.

Malinga has taken a record 170 wickets in the history of the IPL tournament. The 37-year-old Sri Lankan player has retired from ODIs and Test cricket, but he plays T20 International. He hopes that he will be a part of the ICC T20 World Cup to be held in India this year.
