Yusuf Pathan’s unbeaten half-century helped India Maharajas beat World Giants by six wickets in a special charity match in Kolkata on Friday. The match was played ahead of the Legends League Cricket starting here on Saturday. Yusuf, who scored the second-fastest half-century in IPL in 15 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their victorious 2014 campaign, showed his old fury after scoring an unbeaten 50 off 35 balls to take them home with eight balls to spare. Yusuf, the winner of three IPL titles, struck around the Eden, including a huge six from Daniel Vettori.

He hit two sixes and five fours.

3 Tanmay Srivastava (54) provided a decent support at the other end as the two put together a 103-run stand when Maharaja was reduced to 50/3 after the powerplay in pursuit of a challenging 171.

It was time for Harbhajan to take back the years at the Eden Gardens, the favorite venue, where he became the first Indian bowler to take a Test hat-trick in the 2001 Test victory against Australia.

Leading the side after Virender Sehwag was out of the captaincy, the veteran offspinner bowled Jacques Kallis around leg and also took catches including a well backward running catch to dismiss Romesh Kaluwitharna, leaving his feet. But there was a crowd of 15,000.

But the star of the day was tall pacer Pankaj Singh, who returned with 5/26, including a maiden over as the World Giants scored 170/8 after opting to bat.
