Meanwhile, the shocking news came for Siraj that his father had died. But this young bowler has decided to stay with the team. The BCCI has issued a statement giving this information.

The BCCI said that the board had discussed with them and proposed to return home, but Siraj has decided to stay in Australia, rejecting the proposal.

BCCI said in a statement, ‘Indian team fast bowler Mohammad Siraj lost his father. The BCCI spoke with Siraj and offered him to go home with his family in times of grief.

According to the statement, ‘the fast bowler has decided to stay with the team. The BCCI understands their grief and will support them in this difficult period.

The BCCI has also asked the media to respect Siraj’s privacy in this difficult time.

The BCCI chief and former Indian team captain Sourav Ganguly has condoled Siraj’s father’s death and praised the Hyderabad pacer for showing a strong mindset.

He tweeted and said, ‘Mohammad Siraj gets the strength to face this situation. I wish him all the best for his success on this tour.

His auto driver father played a key role in Siraj’s success as a cricketer, he supported his son’s ambitions despite limited resources.

Siraj (Mohammed Siraj) plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL. The club shared their grief with Siraj via Twitter.

Siraj is included in the Indian Test team and is currently in the Sydney Quarantine Hub. Due to Kovid related restrictions, he will not be able to return to India for his father’s funeral.
