Melbourne: Today, Australia’s star spinner Nathan Lyon is celebrating his 33rd birthday. Nathan was one of the most successful bowlers of the Australian team today but there was a time when he used to work on the field but was not part of the team. With his hard work and dedication, this player has done that his own luck is written.
Today, on the ground on which Nathan Lyon dusts the big batsmen with his ball, at one time he used to cut grass there. Actually, Nathan used to be a grass cutting worker in Adelaide.
Nathan Lyon was given a chance in the Australian team in the series against Sri Lanka in 2011. After getting a chance in that series, Nathan Lyon had said, ‘I am not able to believe my luck. I have got this chance by luck and I will not let it go to waste. Every child dreams that he will grow up and play for his country and get a chance to prove himself. Sri Lanka tour is going to be an exciting experience for me.
Leon is just four matches away from playing 100 Tests. He has played 96 Test matches so far, in which he has taken 390 wickets, which is the highest wicket of any Australian off-spinner.
Leon Lyon will be the 10th player to reach 100 Tests in Australian cricket history and this will be in the fourth and final Test against India in Brisbane early next year.
He said, ‘I still feel that I am getting better and I still feel that I can contribute a lot for Cricket Australia’.
Leon said, ‘I definitely keep an eye on 500 and more wickets’.
The veteran spinner played his last Test in January this year, after which cricket was stopped all over the world with Kovid-19. He said that this break has increased his hunger to do well.
He said, ‘Perhaps, this (break) has further increased my attachment to the game’.
Leon (Lyon) said, ‘I definitely look at 500 and more wickets’.
Let us know that the ODI and T20 series between India and Australia will start from November 27, after which a four-match Test series will be played, which will start from the day night match in Adelaide from 17 December.
