New Delhi: The New Zealand cricket team decided to cancel the tour just before the start of the first ODI against Pakistan in Rawalpindi. This decision was taken just 5 minutes before the start of the match, after which the agreement with the Pakistan Cricket Board got a setback. This decision was taken due to security reasons. Now a big disclosure has come on this news.
New Zealand team got information about the attack
Before the start of the match, security agencies of 5 countries had informed about the attack. This includes the names of New Zealand, Canada, USA, UK and Australia. These agencies had told that some threats had been received regarding this series, after which it was canceled with the mutual consent of the governments of both the countries.
According to a report published in the NZ Herald, before the match, there was a long talk between New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan before the match, after which it was decided to cancel this ODI and T20 tour. The Prime Minister of New Zealand said that all her security agencies had warned that if the Kiwi team took a single step outside the hotel, they could be attacked.
Pak had told it was an international conspiracy!
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Ahmed said he would not name the conspirators. However, he said that after what is happening in Afghanistan, some forces want to make Pakistan a scapegoat. According to the Geo TV report, hours after the Kiwi team canceled the tour of Pakistan, Ahmed said, New Zealand authorities do not have concrete evidence of danger in Pakistan.
Unilateral decision by New Zealand: Ahmed
Ahmed said that New Zealand made a unilateral decision to cancel the tour of Pakistan despite tight security arrangements in the country for the visiting team. A statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that New Zealand Cricket has decided to cancel the tour of Pakistan citing a security alert. The PCB said, “Today New Zealand Cricket informed us that they have been alerted to some security alerts due to which they have decided to postpone the unilateral series.”
