Pakistan on Thursday announced their 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup and, contrary to expectations, decided to stick to most of the players who lost to Sri Lanka in the recent Asia Cup final. The announcement was followed by scrutiny from fans and former cricketers alike. Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir also tweeted after the team’s announcement but has since been reprimanded by Twitter fans for his choice of words.
Amir tweeted, “Cheap selector’s choice.” This did not go down well with fans who criticized him for his comments. Amir had earlier retired from international cricket accusing the team management of being unfair to him. While he has received sympathy from fans in the past, his tweet has not gone down well with Pakistan cricket loyalists.
Here are some reactions:
Brother why are you such a toxic man, I loved you.

I don’t think Amir understands that if he keeps quiet he will go down as a Pakistani goat.
We have won three ICC titles, in two of them he was instrumental. Keeps hurting his own heritage. https://t.co/VVjFR5IO5J

How will this tweet help you focus on cricket, retire prematurely to play franchise cricket, play domestic and get back in the green?
You will instead lose the last few fans left.
Please delete this cheap tweet 🙏
