‘Playing in Australia is like going to war’, Shubman Gill reveals secrets


New Delhi: Team India recently beat England 3–1 in a four-match Test series. Earlier, the Indian team won the second consecutive series by defeating Australia 2–1 in the Test series held at their home. The series win against Australia is considered to be one of India’s biggest series wins. Meanwhile, Team India’s young opening batsman Shubhman Gill has made a big statement referring to his experience on the Australian tour.

‘Playing in Australia is like a dream come true’

Gill (Shubhman Gill) said that playing on Australian soil was like a dream come true. Speaking to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) official website, Gill said, ‘When I was a kid I used to get up at four and a half to watch a Test match in Australia. Now people get up early to see me playing, that is a great feeling. It is like the fulfillment of a childhood dream.

‘It felt like going to war’

Gill (Shubhman Gill) said that when he got down to bat in Australia, he felt as if he was going to battle. He said, ‘By the time I was fielding, I was quite normal. But when the turn of the batting came and I came from the dressing room to the pitch amid the noise of the spectators, it was a different experience. It seemed like I am going to battle.

Biggest win series against australia

The series win against Australia was one of India’s biggest Test series victories. India won the 4-match series 2–1. This series win was special because in the middle of this series, more than half of the main players of India were injured and exited, while captain Kohli returned home after the first Test. In the first match of this series, India were all out for 36 runs in the second innings. But still India made history by winning two of the next 3 matches of the series.
