New Delhi: Team India is going to get a new coach after the T20 World Cup. The BCCI has already convinced Rahul Dravid for this post. Now Rahul has also applied for the post of coach of the Indian team to complete the formalities. At the same time, BCCI is also going to give a big role to VVS Laxman.
Dravid submitted his application
Former captain Rahul Dravid, who is going to become the next coach of the Indian cricket team, has formally applied for this post on Tuesday. The application of Dravid, the current head of the National Cricket Academy, has made the task of the Cricket Advisory Committee easier as no other big name of his stature is in the running. She is believed to be the first and only choice of BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah.
Today was the last date of application
A senior BCCI official told PTI on Tuesday, “Rahul has formally applied as today was the last date for application. His team bowling coach Paras Mhambre and fielding coach Abhay Sharma have already applied from the NCA. His application was just a formality. Dravid recently spoke to the top BCCI officials on the sidelines of the IPL final in Dubai. Ganguly and Shah once again asked him to take over the post after the ICC T20 World Cup.
Coach will be made in New Zealand series
Under Dravid’s guidance, the new era of Indian cricket will begin with the home series against New Zealand in which he will take charge with the new T20 captain. Former India batsman VVS Laxman is once again in the race for the post of NCA chief. Sources have revealed that Laxman will no longer be the mentor of IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad. In such a situation, if he is selected, he will have to give up his work of writing commentary and columns.
Laxman will also get the responsibility
The national coach and the NCA chief work together in the interest of Indian cricket. Dravid and Laxman have played together for the Indian team after domestic cricket for South Zone and are very close to each other. Laxman has not shown interest in the post but BCCI will contact him again. Anil Kumble’s name is also in the race for his refusal but it remains to be seen whether the board contacts him or not.
