Rahul Dravid may get big responsibility from BCCI, decision will be taken soon


New Delhi: The BCCI has invited applications for the post of Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, whose current head and former India captain Rahul Dravid can reapply.

Rahul Dravid, who played a key role in building India’s bench strength, was appointed as the NCA head in July 2019. He had previously worked extensively with junior players as the coach of the India Under-19 and India A teams.

Dravid’s contract expired

Rahul Dravid has got a two-year contract and as per the rules, BCCI has invited applications for it. Dravid is expected to reapply for a two-year extension. The last date to apply is 15th August (up to 11.59 pm).

Dravid can become NCA Head again

A BCCI source told PTI, “Rahul Dravid can reapply for the post, but Ravi Shastri’s term is ending in November 2021 after the T20 World Cup and there is a possibility that Dravid will be playing in the national team.” Be the head coach of. Dravid said, ‘To be honest, I haven’t really thought anything too far ahead. I am enjoying doing what I am doing. The current age limit prescribed for a head coach is 60 years, just like the NCA lead role. Shastri turned 59 in May. If India does not perform well in the T20 World Cup, then Dravid can join this race for the head coach for the national team.

According to the BCCI website, ‘NCA Cricket Head will be solely responsible for the conduct of all programs of cricket coaching in the academy. He will be responsible for the development of budding and young cricketers to be sent to the NCA under the men’s and women’s player development programmes.
