Dubai: Team India’s veteran off-spinner R Ashwin and wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant have been nominated by the ICC for the award of the ICC Player of the Month Awards for January.

ICC (ICC) Said that this award will be given to female and male cricketers who have excelled in every format throughout the year.

For the month of January, England captain Joe Root, Australian batsman Steve Smith, Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz, South Africa’s Marijane Kaap and Nadine de Clerc and Pakistan’s Nida Dar are also in the race.
The winner will be chosen by online voting
The ICC said in a release that fans have been invited to vote online every month.
Apart from the online vote, an independent ICC voting academy has also been formed, which will include former players, broadcasters and journalists.
ICC (ICC) General Manager Geoff Allardyce said “ICC will be a golden opportunity to connect with fans through the award of the best player of the month, who will be able to appreciate the performance of their favorite cricketer”.
Three nominations for each category will be decided by the award nominating committee of the ICC. The Voting Academy will vote by email which will be 90 percent of the total vote. On the first day of the month, fans registered with the ICC will be able to cast their votes on the ICC website which will be ten percent of the total vote.
The winner will be announced on the second Monday of the month.
