Roston Chase gets new responsibility in West Indies Test team for New Zealand Tour

St. Johns: West Indies all-rounder Roston Chase has been named vice-captain of the Test team for the New Zealand Tour starting on 27 November while wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran will be the vice-captain in the T20 squad.

Chase replaces opener Craig Braithwaite, who was vice-captain in the series against England in July. At the same time, Puran, who became the vice-captain for the first time in 2019, has retained his place.

West Indies cricket chief selector Roger Harper said, “Chase has a lot of experience and will prove to be very useful for fellow players and coaches. Captain Jason Holder will get a lot of help from inside and outside the field.

Chase has reached New Zealand, while Puran, who was part of the IPL, T20 captain Kieron Pollard, Test captain Holder, Fabien Allen, Shimron Hetmyer, Chemo Paul and Oshes Thomas will arrive today. T20 matches will be played in Auckland (November 27), Mount Maunganui (November 29 and 30).
