Sachin played cricket for Pakistan
Sachin Tendulkar made his debut against Pakistan in the year 1989. Prior to that, in the year 1987, he fielded for the Pakistani team.
In fact, in 1987, the Pakistan team came on a tour of India. During that time, ODI and Test series were to be played between these two teams. Before the start of the series, a practice match was played between India and Pakistan and in this match Sachin fielded for Pakistan.
This ODI practice match was played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. It was a 40-40 over match. During India’s batting, Javed Miandad and Abdul Qadir left the field at lunch. But Pakistan also did not have the option of a substitute player. In such a situation, Sachin, who was about 14 years old, got a chance to land on the field on behalf of the visiting team.
Sachin had revealed
Sachin Tendulkar has mentioned this in his autobiography Playing It My Way. Sachin has written, I do not know whether Imran Khan will remember or even know that I have once fielded for the Pakistani team.
He wrote, ‘Javed Miandad and Abdul Qadir left the field during lunch. After this, when he asked the visiting team to field, he agreed. In this way Sachin Tendulkar has also played matches for Pakistan.
Let us tell you that till now there have been three such players in cricket who have played for both India and Pakistan teams. These include Abdul Hafeez Kardar, Amir Elahi and Gul Mohammad.
