Mumbai: Former Team India fast bowler Salil Ankola has been chosen as the new Chief Selector of Mumbai for the upcoming domestic season. The domestic season will begin next month with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Other members of the selection committee are Sanjay Patil, Ravindra Thaker, Zulfiqar Parkar and Ravi Kulkarni.
52-year-old Salil Ankola played just one Test match for Team India, in which he took 2 wickets. He has also played 20 ODIs in which 13 wickets were taken. In domestic cricket, Ankola played 54 matches and took 181 wickets in which his best performance was 6 wickets for 47 runs. Salil has also acted in TV serials and Bollywood films, but now he is very happy to join cricket again.

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) said in its press release, ‘MCA’s Cricket Reforms Committee has appointed Salil Ankola (Chairman), Sanjay Patil, for the Senior Selection Committee for the 2020-21 season (season ending 31 March 2021). Appointed Ravindra Thaker, Zulfikar Parker and Ravi Kulkarni ‘
The Cricket Reform Committee consists of Lalchand Rajput, Rajiv Kulkarni and Sameer Dighe. The MCA said that soon the head coach of the senior men’s team will be announced. Significantly, due to the coronavirus epidemic, the domestic season was braking for several months.
