“Some Players Are Overweight”: Former Pakistan Captain Slams India Stars’ Fitness After Losing To Australia In Mohali

The Indian men’s cricket team is not looking in the best of shape and it was again visible during the first T20I against Australia in Mohali on Tuesday. Just days after their unaccounted exit from the Asia Cup following consecutive defeats to Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the Indian team failed to defend the target of more than 200 runs and as a result Australia took a 0-1 lead in three. – Match series.

The Indian pacers were lacking in bite and the fielding left much to be desired as the players dropped crucial catches to allow Australia to chase down the target with ease.

Speaking about India’s performance, former Pakistan captain Salman Butt termed lack of fitness and pace as two of India’s big problems ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia next month.

“I don’t know if others will talk about it or not, but in my view the fitness of Team India is not ideal. Apart from players like Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya, fitness is not their strongest point. Something important and on the field They are not excellent. They lack pace in bowling and don’t take their chances in the filed.” Butt said on his YouTube channel,

“KL Rahul dropped a catch in the ground. He looked so sluggish as he approached the ball. Axar also dropped a catch at mid-wicket. So, if you drop such a catch the batsmen will not give you a second chance.

“The fast bowling and fitness ahead of the World Cup are worrying signs for India,” he said.

Butt took a hard hit on fitness if the Indian players and even named Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant whom he feels they need to do better on the field and improve their fitness.

“Indian players are the highest paid cricketers in the world. They play the most matches. You tell me why their fitness is not up to the mark? If we compare their fitness with other teams like South Africa, Australia and England. Well, Indians are no match. I would even say that some Asian teams are ahead of India. Some Indian players are overweight. I think they need to work on it because they are great cricketers. Butt said on his YouTube channel.

“Virat Kohli has set an example for others in fitness. Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya are so fit. They have excellent fitness but there are players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul also looked sluggish today, you know, Rishabh Pant. If he becomes fit, he will become a more dangerous cricketer,” he said.
