Kolkata: Cricket Board of India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has said that Ahmedabad will host the day-night test during England’s tour of India early next year.
England have to tour India for a series of five Tests and limited overs from January to March next year.
There has been speculation that the series may move to the UAE where IPL 2020 is currently underway, given the recent cases of Kovid-19 in India. But Sourav Ganguly said, ‘Ahmedabad will host the day-night test’.
The BCCI, however, is committed to hosting England in the country itself and is already considering all options, including creating a biologically safe environment.
Ahmedabad, Dharamsala and Kolkata could be the three possible places of the Test series but Ganguly said that he has not yet taken a final decision. Ganguly said, ‘We have made some temporary plans but no decision has been taken yet. We still have four months’.
The BCCI president said that his priority is the upcoming tour of Australia for which the team will be selected in a few days. He said, ‘Before England, there is a series against Australia. The team will be selected for this in a few days’.
Ganguly (Sourav Ganguly) said that there will be no problem for players to conform to the test format immediately after the IPL. He said, ‘They are all level players, they will not have any problem’.
The BCCI has decided to start the Ranji Trophy from January 1 and Ganguly said that it will be discussed in the upcoming annual general meeting.
