Sydney: Team India captain Virat Kohli has indicated last Tuesday that he will play against Australia-A on 11 December before the first Test match against Australia. Others can stay out of practice matches.
After the limited overs series between India and Australia (IND vs AUS), the first Test match will be played at Adelaide Oval from 17 to 21 December. Virat Kohli will captain the team in this match. After this, he will return home for the birth of his first child.

Kohli said after India’s 12-run defeat in the third and last T20 International match, ‘After waking up tomorrow morning, I will see if I can play in the practice match. It is not in my hands to decide whether to play in it or not and I would love to play the entire match. I will go to my physio and after that I will decide to play in this match.
Australia’s bowlers stopped India from doing a clean sweep despite Kohli’s 85-run innings. India won the series 2–1. Overall, Kohli is happy that his team has found out how to win under difficult circumstances.
He said, “We are looking for ways to make a comeback and keep the opposing team in a panic and by winning the series we ended the 2020 season with a great end.” Like last match, Hardik Pandya was at the crease in the last moments with Kohli and at one time he raised hopes of India’s victory.
Kohli said, ‘At one time when Hardik started playing big shots, we felt that we can hit the target. We paid the brunt of slow batting in the middle overs. Had 30 runs been played at that time, it would have been easy for Hardik.
Kohli also thanked the sports-loving spectators of Australia who arrived at the stadium in large numbers despite the awe of the Kovid-19 epidemic. He said, ‘I also felt the presence of the audience. It always inspires you. On some occasions our supporters helped us get out of the difficult situation. Australia also received very good support. We players also benefited from the energy of the spectators.
After winning the T20 series, Kohli is now eyeing Test matches and he said that the current team is stronger than the team that won their first Test series here 2 years ago. He said, ‘We have to adopt the same competitive attitude in Test matches. We have experience of playing here and we can score well. We have to concentrate on making good scores season by season. I am very sure that the present team is stronger than the previous team.
