Kolkata: Jharkhand defeated Assam by 51 runs in Group B of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy competition. This is Jharkhand’s first win in three matches, while Assam has suffered a second defeat.
Virat Singh played ‘Virat’ innings
Virat Singh performed brilliantly for Jharkhand. He scored an unbeaten 103 off 53 balls with the help of 12 fours and three sixes.
Apart from Virat Singh, Saurabh Tiwary contributed 57, Kumar Devbrata made an unbeaten 31 and captain Ishan Kishan contributed 24, helping Jharkhand score a mammoth 233 for three, followed by Assam with seven Allowed to score 182 runs on wicket.

For Assam, Ryan Parag (Riyan Parag) scored the highest 67 runs while Pallavkumar Das scored 46 runs but lost wickets at regular intervals. For Jharkhand, Monu Kumar took three wickets for 23 runs.
Victory campaign of Tamil Nadu continues
In Group B, Tamil Nadu registered their third consecutive win by defeating Odisha by eight wickets with 29 balls left in the match played at Eden Gardens. With this, Tamil Nadu remains at the top of the group with 12 points.
The Tamil Nadu bowlers, led by spinner Murugan Ashwin, kept a tight grip on Odisha, who decided the first batsman from the start, and allowed his team to score 132 runs for nine wickets. Ashwin took three wickets for 16 runs.
Tamil Nadu continued their winning campaign with a half-century from Narayan Jagadeeshan (61) for 136 for two in 15.1 overs.
