New Delhi: ‘Captain Cool’ MS Dhoni has been made the mentor of Team India for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Due to which there has been a ruckus in the BCCI itself.

The Apex Council of the BCCI has received a complaint against MS Dhoni, in which his appointment has been termed as a violation of the rules of conflict of interest. According to this, one person cannot occupy two posts. Significantly, Dhoni is also the captain of IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Sanjeev Gupta took a jibe
Former life member of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association Sanjeev Gupta has sent a letter to Apex Council members saying Dhoni’s appointment is in violation of conflict of interest rules which states that one person cannot hold two posts. Gupta has already filed several complaints of conflict of interest against players and administrators.
Screw stuck by this rule
A BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity, “Yes, Gupta has sent a letter to the members of the Apex Council which includes Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah. He has cited Article 38(4) of the BCCI constitution according to which a person cannot hold two different posts. The Apex Council will need advice from its legal team to examine its implications.
BCCI will have to clarify
Dhoni is a team player on the one hand and on the other hand he will also be the mentor of the national team, which raises questions and needs clarification for this. BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Wednesday announced the Indian team for the T20 World Cup and on this occasion Dhoni was appointed as the mentor of the team for this ICC tournament.

MS Dhoni surprised world cricket by announcing his retirement on August 15 last year through an Instagram post and since then he has not talked about it even once. Dhoni has scored 4,876, 10,773 and 1,617 runs for India in 90 Tests, 350 ODIs and 98 T20 Internationals respectively.
