Team India’s ‘biggest enemy’ gets ICC Player of the Month award, Jasprit Bumrah disappointed


Dubai: England’s Test captain Joe Root and Ireland all-rounder Eimear Richardson have been named the men’s and women’s ICC Players of the Month respectively for the month of August.

The ICC gave this information on Monday. Joe Root won this award leaving behind Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi. Root scored 507 runs in 3 test matches against India in August.

Former South Africa all-rounder JP Duminy, one of the panelists of the ICC Voting Academy, said, “As captain, he had a responsibility on his shoulders, even after which he batted brilliantly. I was really impressed that he went ahead and led the team and became the number one Test batsman in the world.

Award to Imir Richardson

Irish all-rounder Eimear Richardson performed brilliantly in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier last month, due to which she was adjudged the ‘Player of the Tournament’. He took 7 wickets in the tournament at an average of 4.19.

Brilliant innings against Netherlands

Ireland’s star cricketer Eimear Richardson made an important contribution with the ball as well as with the bat. He played an important innings of 53 runs in 49 balls in his last match against the Netherlands and scored a total of 76 runs in the tournament.

Imir said, “It was very exciting to be nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for August and now I feel great as the winner. It has been great for me to contribute to the team in the European Qualifiers and hopefully we have done a lot to make it to the next stage and we will take part again at the international level.
