Tokyo: Indian women’s hockey team captain Rani Rampal is proud of her team’s effort in the Olympic Games but is hurt after missing out on a historic medal to finish fourth. We worked so hard throughout the tournament and played together as a team. The Indian team made a spectacular comeback after trailing by two goals and took a 3-2 lead at the time of the interval. The British team, however, gave their all in the second half and snatched the victory from India’s hands by scoring two goals.

Rani expressed hope that her performance at the Tokyo Games will inspire the next generation in India. She said, ‘I want to express my gratitude to all the countrymen, because they supported us a lot and they believed in us that we can achieve something here. I know that even though we did not win bronze, they will support us because we have inspired the nation.

He said that luck was probably not on his side and it would be difficult to digest this defeat. Rani Rampal said, ‘It was a very difficult defeat, but we tried hard. Each player gave his 100 percent.
