Dubai: India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (R Ashwin), England captain Joe Root and West Indies’ Kyle Meyers have been named for the ICC Player of the Month. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the nominations for the Male and Female Player of the Month for the month of February. Among the women, Tammy Beaumont of England, Brook Holliday of New Zealand and Natalie Skiver of England have been nominated for this.
Ashwin performed brilliantly in the ongoing four-match Test series against England. Ashwin (R Ashwin) scored 106 runs in the second innings of the second Test, while in the third Test, he achieved the feat of taking 400 wickets in his career. Ashwin (R Ashwin) has scored 176 runs in three Tests and has taken 24 wickets.
Joe Root has also performed well against India not only with the bat but also with the ball. He scored 333 runs in three matches and took six wickets. Root had scored 218 runs in the first Test, due to which the team defeated India.
Meyers had scored a match-winning 210 against Bangladesh in his debut Test and played a key role in helping the team win in the first Test.
Beaumont scored half-centuries in all three matches in the ODI series against New Zealand and played an important role in helping the team win the series. He scored 231 runs in this series.
Holiday also performed well against England and scored 110 runs in the series and took two wickets. Skiver scored 96 runs in the series and took five wickets. Skiver was the highest wicket-taker in the ODI series between England and New Zealand.
