New Delhi: It is a matter of pride for any cricketer to be a part of the Test team of his country, but it is not so easy to perform well in this format for a long time. This is the reason why many players were dropped from the team due to poor form and the hope of their return is negligible. We are discussing those star players who should now take early retirement from Test cricket.
1- Murali Vijay
Murali Vijay was the opener of the Indian Test team for a long time, his place was confirmed after the departure of Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, then Murali played many memorable innings, but in the year 2018 there was a tremendous decline in his form. After the 2018-19 tour of Australia, his card was cut from Team India. In such a situation, he is now left with the option of retirement.
2- Aaron Finch
Aaron Finch is not only the captain of the Australian cricket team’s ODI and T20 team, but he is also a strong player, but he has scored just 278 runs in 10 innings of 5 test matches. In the year 2018, he had to be out of the Kangaroo Test team due to poor performance against India, after that he never appeared in this format.
3- Martin Guptill
Martin Guptill is one of New Zealand’s explosive batsmen, his form in ODIs and T20 Internationals is excellent, but he has not been so successful in Test cricket. He played his last Test against India 5 years ago. The Kiwis have excellent batsmen like Tom Latham and Devon Conway for the Test opening, so there is no chance of Guptill returning to this format.
4- Shikhar Dhawan
Shikhar Dhawan may be the star player of limited overs cricket at present, but the hope of his return to Indian Test cricket is negligible because Team India has many options for opening in this format. He was India’s key opener after making his debut against Australia in Mohali in 2013, but in 2018 Dhawan had to bear the brunt of his poor performance on the Australia tour and was dropped from the Test team. Dhawan himself is now concentrating only on ODIs and T20s.
