Dubai: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opener Devdutt Padikkal has performed exceptionally well in the IPL. Everyone has praised his batting. However, he was not given a chance in the T20 World Cup. But now this player is ready to rock in IPL 2021.
Padikkal will be seen again the wonder of
Padikkal said in a video interview, ‘It almost feels like we are continuing the tournament again. It doesn’t look like we have taken a long break because we had enough cricket in between. It doesn’t feel like a big break. So, it’s about continuing the momentum we had in the first leg of the season.
In the first phase of IPL 2021, Padikkal scored his first century of IPL against Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai. Padikkal said, ‘I didn’t think I could do that at this point. Although I believed that I could score those runs. I had never imagined to score that century. When I was leaving, I just knew that this is the day when I have to do something big and it is very important to do so. As such, those days do not come again and again. Once you have that moment, just grasp it and I thought I did well that day’.
RCB ready for the challenge
The 20-year-old batsman made his T20 debut against Sri Lanka in July this year. When asked about Bangalore’s hopes of winning the trophy this season, Padikkal seemed optimistic. He said, ‘I would hope so. Every year, everyone comes with the same hope of winning the IPL. Hopefully this will be our year. We have a good team and some good options are coming in. So, we are up to the challenge and maintain the momentum that we have.”
