New Delhi: In the current Test series between India and England, questions are being raised on captain Virat Kohli for not giving Ravichandran Ashwin a chance in the playing XI. Meanwhile, fast bowler Mohammed Shami has distanced himself from this issue.
Shami refused to comment
Mohammed Shami said in the press conference, ‘I would not like to comment on the selection, it is the decision of the team management, whatever 11 players are in the field, they will have to do their work, we will have to play that playing XI. Will have to show confidence while supporting the one which the management has chosen. You can’t think too much about it.’
Why didn’t Ashwin get a chance?
Ravichandran Ashwin is the number two bowler in the current ICC Test Rankings. Despite this, he is not able to make a place in the playing XI of Team India. Ravindra Jadeja is being given a chance in place of Ashwin, as his batting skills are slightly better.
Shane Warne also raised questions
Recently, Shane Warne also targeted Team India captain Virat Kohli for not including the full-time spinner in the playing XI, he wrote, ‘A spinner can turn the game. Maybe, I am surprised, which is why you should always include a spinner in the playing XI no matter what the circumstances. Remember, you don’t build a team just for the first innings, spin to win.
