Tokyo: Indian women’s archer Deepika Kumari has reached the quarterfinals of the individual event of Tokyo Olympics. Deepika defeated Kenya Perova of ROC 6-5 in the 1/8 elimination round held at Yumenoshima Final Field.

Dipika won the first set 28-25 to take a 2-0 lead, but Perova took the second set 27-26 to make the score 2-2. Deepika then won the second set 28-27 to take a 4-2 lead, but Perova held her level in the next set to reduce the score to 5-3.
Deepika won the match 6-5
Then Perova won the fifth set 28-25 to make the score 5-5. After this a shoot off point was organized, in which Deepika won the match 6-5 by getting a score of 10 against 7.
Deepika will face San En in the quarter finals
Deepika, who is playing Olympics for the third time, became the first Indian archer to reach the last eight of the Olympic archery event. In the quarter-finals, Deepika will face South Korea San An, this match will be played on Friday only.
