Tokyo Olympics: Hope for another medal in the Olympics, Deepika Kumari made it to the third round


New Delhi: Indian woman archer Deepika Kumari has made it to Round-16 by defeating Jennifer Fernardez Muccino of America in the second round of women’s individual archery event at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics here. Deepika defeated Jennifer 6-4 in the second round. He lost the first set but then came back strongly and won the next two sets.

Deepika won in thrilling match

In the fourth set, Deepika once again fell behind, but by winning the fifth and deciding set, she also overcame this obstacle and took another step towards the medal. Earlier, Deepika defeated Karma of Bhutan in Round-64 to make it to the second round. Deepika defeated Karma 6-0 in a one-sided fashion.

Medal is expected from Deepika

Before Deepika (Deepika Kumari), India’s male archers Tarundeep Rai and Praveen Jadhav also made it to the second round by winning the first round match. But both these archers had to face defeat in the second round. After the failure of the male archers, it was on Deepika to keep the medal hopes alive. Dipika and her partner Praveen lost 2-6 to South Korean pair Aan San and Kim Jae Deok in the quarterfinals of the mixed team event.
