Tokyo: Indian wrestlers showed their flair at the Tokyo Olympic Games on Wednesday. Wrestler Ravi Dahiya and Deepak Poonia have both made it to the semi-finals of wrestling and have given India the hope of a medal.

Ravi Kumar did the Bulgarian wrestler

Indian wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya has reached the semi-finals of the 57kg category of men’s freestyle wrestling. Ravi Kumar Dahiya defeated Bulgarian wrestler Jordi Vangelov 14-4 in the quarterfinals.

Deepak Poonia also in semi-finals

Deepak Poonia has won the quarterfinal match of the 86kg category of men’s freestyle wrestling. Deepak Poonia defeated China’s Jushen Lin 6-3. Deepak scored two points by betting in the last second.

Poonia’s match against Taylor in the semi-finals

Deepak Poonia will face David Morris Taylor of America in the semi-finals. He is the second Indian wrestler to reach the semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympics.

Anshu Malik gets disappointed

At the same time, 19-year-old Anshu Malik lost 2-8 to European champion Irina Kurachikina of Belarus in the first match of the women’s 57 kg category. Asian champion Anshu made a spectacular comeback to take two push-out points against her opponent from Belarus despite going 0-4 down. She grabbed Kurachikina’s right leg, but could not complete the move. She lost two points on counter attack but kept fighting. The experience of a European wrestler eventually overshadowed his enthusiasm. Anshu’s return will now depend on where Kurachikina reaches. If she reaches the final, Anshu will get a chance to play repashage.
