Southampton: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed through its Twitter handle that the Indian cricket team has entered the quarantine phase after reaching the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. Wicket-keeper batsmen Wriddhiman Saha, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah had already tweeted their pictures from the Ageas Bowl as they reached their hotel rooms on the grounds.
Journey of Indian Cricket Team till it reached England
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted along with a short video of the team’s journey from India, “The excitement is at its peak when Team India reaches England”.
The video shows the players sleeping apart from watching movies during their long trip to England.
It is shown in the video that the players have been isolated after reaching the base camp. The Ageas Bowl is the base camp for the World Test Championship. On this ground, India has to play the final of the Test Championship with New Zealand from 18 June.
Team India ready for a fight
The BCCI had arranged a charter flight for both the men’s and women’s teams to reach England in the wake of the Kovid-19 pandemic.
The Indian men’s team, led by Virat Kohli, will play the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) against New Zealand between June 18-22. After this, from August 4, he has to play a five-Test series against England.
The women’s team will play the only Test against England from June 16 in Bristol after the quarantine phase in Southampton. After this, the women’s team will play three-match ODI series and T20 series of equal number of matches along with England.
