Star batsman Virat Kohli on Sunday became the first Indian to complete 11,000 runs in T20 cricket. Kohli achieved the feat during India’s second T20I of the three-match series against South Africa at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Kohli needed only 19 runs to reach this point before the game and he got there quite easily. However, he didn’t stop there and made the moment more memorable with a brilliant knock of 49 not out off just 28 balls. His innings included seven fours and a six.
Overall, Kohli is the fourth batsman to cross the 11,000 T20-run mark. Chris Gayle (14,562) topped the chart, followed by Kieron Pollard (11,915) and Shoaib Malik (11,902) at the third spot.
During the match, Kohli showed his class. For a moment, everything was mesmerized by Suryakumar’s beautiful shots but Kohli made his presence felt with some quality shots around the park.
In the match, India batsman Suryakumar Yadav also entered the elite list as he completed 1000 runs in T20Is and became the third fastest Indian batsman to achieve the feat in terms of innings (31).
Meanwhile, Suryakumar became the fastest batsman to score 1000 T20I runs in terms of balls. He achieved this feat in 573 balls, 31 balls less than previous list topper Glenn Maxwell.
