Virat Kohli will leave the captaincy of ODI format after T20! big reason

New Delhi: Former head coach of Team India Ravi Shastri believes that Virat Kohli can quit captaincy from other formats after T20 International to deal with the pressure related to Corona virus. Shastri’s tenure with the Indian team came to an end with India’s early exit from the ICC T20 World Cup being played in the UAE.

Ravi Shastri made a big claim

When asked about the captaincy of Virat Kohli in a conversation with ‘India Today’, Ravi Shastri said that he can leave the responsibility of leadership from other formats for better ‘Workload Management’.

‘Kohli will focus on batting’

Ravi Shastri said, ‘India has been at the top position for the last 5 years under his captaincy in Test cricket. He wouldn’t want to leave her until he felt mentally exhausted. However, he may quit the captaincy to focus on batting in the near future.

Virat will do only Test captaincy!

Ravi Shastri said, ‘It will not happen immediately, but it can happen. The same can happen with white ball cricket (in limited overs format). He can say that now he just wants to focus on Test captaincy.

‘Kohli fittest player’

Terming Virat Kohli as the fittest cricketer, Ravi Shastri said, ‘Many successful players have left the captaincy to focus on their batting.’ He definitely has the hunger to do well in the game, he is fitter than anyone in the team. No doubt about that. When you are physically fit, you age in sports. In terms of captaincy, it will be his decision, but I see that he can say no to white ball cricket but in red ball cricket he should continue playing. Because he has been the best messenger of Test cricket.

‘There should be a different captain for every format’

Ravi Shastri has speculated that apart from Virat Kohli, many other players can take a long break to deal with the fatigue of the bio bubble. He stressed on the need for different captains for different formats in the time of Kovid-19. He said, ‘It is important to have different captains in such times because it will reduce the pressure on the player. I think a lot of players want to take a break. You will need to take rest from the game from time to time.

‘IPL has increased fatigue’

When asked about India’s world champion captain Kapil Dev’s allegations of players giving priority to IPL over the country, Shastri said, “After the IPL was postponed in April, they (BCCI) had no option.” I don’t think it will happen again in future. As far as Kapil is concerned, he is right about the IPL schedule as it increased the fatigue of the players.
