New Delhi: Indian team captain Virat Kohli has taken a big decision before the T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli said that he will step down as the captain of the T20 team just after the World Cup this year. Actually, Virat has taken this decision because captaining the Indian team in all three formats is affecting his game a lot. Actually, Virat’s form was not going well for some time, due to which he has taken such a big decision.
Will continue as captain of Test and ODI
However, Virat Kohli has decided to continue the captaincy of the Test and ODI teams. For the last few years, Kohli’s bat has not been able to run as it used to. Kohli has failed to score any century in all formats for the last two years. One of the biggest reasons behind his poor form has been that he captains the team in all three formats and his burden was not handled by him.
Kohli’s record as T20 captain has been quite impressive. He has captained Team India in a total of 45 matches and in 27 of them Team India has won. At the same time, India has lost in 14 matches. Whereas there were 4 matches whose result could not come out. Kohli told that he took the decision to leave the captaincy of the T20 team only after taking the opinion of his close people. The team’s head coach Ravi Shastri and Rohit Sharma were also involved in this.
Rohit can become the new captain
After Kohli, now the new captain of Team India can become the legendary opening batsman Rohit Sharma. During the captaincy of Kohli, the same thing happened every time that Rohit Sharma should be made the new captain of the team. Actually, Rohit’s captaincy in big leagues like IPL has been excellent. Under Rohit’s captaincy, Mumbai Indians won the IPL title 5 times. Whereas Kohli could not win the IPL even once for RCB.
