new Delhi: England’s wicketkeeper batsman Sam Billings believes that his game improved after becoming part of the Delhi team in the IPL. He is ready for his next season with Delhi Capitals in this mega T20 league starting from 9 April.

Sam Billings has been a part of the Delhi franchise in 2016 and 2017. Delhi Capitals bought in IPL auction in February for 2 crores. Billings said, ‘I like IPL. It is one of the best tournaments in the world and the discussion about it cannot be found anywhere else in the world. I am waiting to play in the tournament.

‘Benefit of staying in Delhi team’

Billings said, ‘My game was improved after representing Delhi last time. Hopefully, as a group we can win the tournament this year by gaining momentum. It is fantastic to be back in the IPL. This is a big group of players and Delhi Capitals are taking care of us very well. I am very excited to be here.

Sam will play under Pant’s captaincy

The 29-year-old Sam Billings has made 107 catches and 17 stumpings, scoring 3,527 runs in 187 T20 matches. In the absence of regular captain Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant will lead the Delhi Capitals. Billings shared his experience with him.

Sam Billings said, ‘I remember when I first saw Rishabh playing. We were practicing and he was easily hitting big shots against Chris Morris, Nathan Culper-Nile and other bowlers. Then I asked Rahul Dravid (the then mentor of the team) who is this player?

He said, ‘And now we all know who Rishabh Pant is and I actually said at that time that he is probably the best young player that I have seen.’ It is worth noting that the team of Delhi Capitals will start their campaign in the IPL against Chennai Super Kings on April 10 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
