Colombo: Ravi Shastri’s tenure as the coach of Team India is till the 2021 T20 World Cup. Former captain Rahul Dravid is a strong contender to become the next coach of Team India. He has broken his silence on whether Rahul Dravid will replace Ravi Shastri as the permanent coach of Team India. Rahul Dravid, who took over the responsibility of coaching the Indian team in the ODI and T20 series against Sri Lanka, said that he has not yet thought of becoming the permanent coach of Team India. Dravid, however, said that he enjoyed the experience of coaching the team in Sri Lanka.

Dravid said, ‘I enjoyed this experience. I haven’t really thought anything about the future. Dravid was asked that if he has a chance to become the coach of Team India in future, then would he want to take over the responsibility of the coaching post. To this he said, ‘To be honest, I am happy in what I am doing now. I haven’t thought of anything other than this tour.

Dravid said, ‘I have enjoyed the experience and I love working with these players. It was great and I haven’t thought of anything else. There are a lot of challenges in playing a full time role, so I really don’t know. India’s head coach Ravi Shastri is currently with the Indian Test team, which lost the final of the World Test Championship to New Zealand and will now play a five-match series against England.
Shastri’s contract till T20 World Cup
Shastri’s contract is till the end of the T20 World Cup, which is to be played in the UAE and Oman from October 17 to November 14, and it is not yet clear whether he would like to reapply as he is 59 years old and the Indian coach. The maximum age limit for the post is 60 years.
