Dubai: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) explosive South African batsman AB de Villiers has started intimidating the opposing teams even before the start of the tournament. De Villiers seems to be all set for the second phase of IPL starting from 19th September. He has scored a century in the team’s first intra-squad practice match.

RCB organized Intra Squad practice match in which RCB-A and RCB-B teams were captained by Harshal Patel and Devdutt Padikal respectively. RCB-A team won the toss and decided to bat first. The A team scored 104 runs off 46 balls with the help of seven fours and 10 sixes and Mohammad Azharuddin scored 212 runs in 43 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes.

In response, RCB-B team won the match by seven wickets with the help of 95 runs from KS Bharat and 36 runs from 21 balls by Padikal.

De Villiers is all set

De Villiers said, ‘When we came here and got off the bus, I thought it was strange to play cricket in the middle of the day. I told my partner in the crease that it is much better now and the pitch is flat. We can have fun here and we are satisfied with the number of runs we scored. I was happy to score runs.

RCB will play the first match on 20 September

Mike Hesson, RCB’s coach and director of cricket operations, said, ‘It was a very good match. Many players did well. Both the top order played a great game. The fact that we finally got to see the pressure in him is what I wanted to see. RCB will start their campaign in the second leg of IPL 2021 with a match against Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi on 20 September.
