Asian Cricket Council president Jay Shah on Tuesday announced that India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan on October 7 in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup starting in Sylhet, Bangladesh next month. Seven teams will take part in the 15-day tournament starting October 1. The tournament will be held in a round robin format, with the top four teams qualifying for the semi-finals.
The teams playing in the tournament are India, Pakistan, hosts Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UAE, Thailand and Malaysia. Afghanistan has not had a women’s team since the Taliban took power.
India opened the campaign against Sri Lanka on the first day.
They will play Malaysia (October 3) and UAE (October 4) on consecutive days before taking on Pakistan.
India play hosts Bangladesh on 8 October and have a round-robin game against Thailand on 10 October.
The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will play six league matches in 10 days before a possible semi-final on October 11 or 13.
The final is to be held on October 15.
