According to the Malaysian automotive news website Paultan, Benelli has launched the Dong electric scooter in Indonesia. The scooter was introduced at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in the country. The electric scooter is priced at IDR 36,900,000 (approx. 1.9 lakh rupees). At present, the company has not given any information about its India launch. Weak electric vehicle charging infrastructure in India is currently preventing companies from introducing electric bikes or scooters, but given the slowly increasing demand in the electric vehicle market now, we can guess that in the coming times, Benelli Many other brands will start launching their own electric two-wheelers.
Talking about power and specifications, the Benelli Dong has a 1.2kW electric motor, due to which it will be able to hold a top speed of up to 45 kilometers per hour. The scooter has a removable battery pack of 1.56kWh and the company claims that the scooter can travel up to 60 km on a full charge. Artificial exhaust sound is also included in this scooter to woo the younger generation, as we have seen in the electric bikes of Revolt, the automobile company owned by Micromax.
The design of the Benelli electric scooter is also quite attractive and is slightly different than the common scooters. Its rear is connected to the floorboard via a central shaft. It has LED headlamps with two large LED indicators. The instrument cluster is also digital and circular like the Bajaj Chetak EV.
