Pony.ai, a robotxy startup in China, has four-wheelers that can run hundreds of times without a driver. This Chinese start-up is now allowed to test its driverless car in the US. While many countries in the world continue to get permits for Autonomous (running with Artificial Intelligence) vehicles, it is not common for Pony.ai’s driverless car to get a permit. Let us know that there are no humans in this start-up car, which means that these cars run entirely in collaboration with machines equipped with machine learning and artificial intelligence. The company currently has permits for testing in three states, and Pony has become the eighth company to receive a driverless vehicle testing permit in the US. This list also includes Baidu, WeRide, AutoX and Waymo.

Pony.ai posted one on his Twitter handle Tweet Announced the receipt of a tax permit. The company stated that they had received permission to test their driverless car in California (California). This permit has been issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). It is the agency that controls automated vehicle testing. Reports from Yahoo Finance state that Pony.ai was allowed to test these autonomous vehicles with safety drivers from 2017.

The report further states that under this permit, Pony.ai can test six of its driverless cars on designated roads within the cities of Fremont, Milpitas and Irvine. Several limitations have also been set in the permit. These cars will have to run at speeds above 72.5 kilometers per hour in clear weather and light rain. Testing must be done between 10 am and 3 pm on weekdays in Fremont and Milpitas.

Pony.ai was founded in 2016 by former Baidu developers James Peng and Lou Tiancheng. The company has partnerships with various other automakers and suppliers including Bosch, Hyundai and Toyota.
