iPad Air (4th Gen) launches with full-screen design, curtain also lifted from iPad (8th Gen) model

Apple has updated the iPad Air. It now comes with new designs, larger displays and powerful new processors. The new iPad Air (4th Gen) bears the imprint of the iPad Pro lineup. But some changes are brand new and the price is also lower than the Pro model. The new iPad Air will be made available in five colors – Silver, Space Gray, Rose Gold, Green and Sky Blue. The Wi-Fi 64 GB storage model costs Rs 54,900, while the 256 GB model can be purchased for Rs 68,900. On the other hand, the price of the Cellular 64 GB model is Rs 66,900 and the 256 GB model of this variant will be sold for Rs 80,900.

The new design draws inspiration from the older generation iPad Air. It has a 10.9-inch homescreen, but no physical buttons. Touch ID fingerprint sensor has been given in place of FaceID camera. The sensor is integrated into the power / standby button. The edges are flat.

Apple claims that the liquid retina display used in the iPad Air is fully laminated with an anti-reflective coating. Its resolution is 2360×1640 pixels. It supports the P3 wide color gamut and Apple’s True Tone color adjustment feature.

The new Apple A14 Bionic processor has been used in the iPad Air (4th Gen). It claims to give 40 percent better CPU performance and 30 percent faster graphics performance than older generation processors.

The new iPad Air has a USB Type-C port, not Apple’s Lightning connector. Data transfer speed will go up to 5 Gbps. The new iPad Air supports external storage devices and up to 4K monitors via the Type-C port.

Talking about other features, the iPad Air (Fourth Gen) has stereo speakers, a 7-megapixel front camera and a 12-megapixel rear camera. The front camera is capable of recording 1080 pixels of video. The rear camera is the same as the iPad Pro. That is, it also supports focus pixels and stabilized 4K video recording. The new iPad Air supports the second-gen Apple Pencil. It also has a magnetic connector through which the pencil can be charged or stored. The new tablet will also work with Apple’s Magic Keyboard.

Apple has also refreshed the entry-level iPad line up. The 32 GB and 128 GB storage variants of its Wi-Fi version are priced at Rs 29,900 and Rs 37,900 respectively. Cellular models with the same storage capacity are priced at Rs 41,900 and Rs 49,900 respectively. It will soon be made available in Silver, Space Gray and Rose Gold colors, but the date has not been revealed yet. Apple says that the iPad is the most successful consumer product ever. Over 500 million units have been sold so far.

The new iPad (8th Gen) retains Apple’s classic iPad design. You will get physical home button with 10.2 inch retina display. It has used the A12 Bionic processor, which claims to give 40 percent faster performance than the older generation processors.

The new iPad (Eight Zen) supports Apple and third-party keyboard accessories. Apart from this, there is also support for First Gen Apple Pencil for notes and sketching. It is equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.2-megapixel front camera. The Lightning connector is still given in this model.

Both iPad models will come with the out-of-box iPadOS 14. The software will be released on September 16 for older iPad models. With this, Apple has also launched the new Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE. The Apple One subscription bundle has also been revealed.
